Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.98%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 0.98%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were GCC SAB de CV (BMV: GCC ), which rose 4.84% or 8.57 points to trade at 185.51 at the close. Meanwhile, Qualitas Controladora, SAB De CV (BMV: Q ) added 4.16% or 6.66 points to end at 166.74 and Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV: VOLARA ) was up 3.83% or 0.61 points to 16.55 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: ELEKTRA ), which fell 4.36% or 12.53 points to trade at 274.99 at the close. Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: GCARSOA1 ) declined 3.78% or 4.79 points to end at 121.77 and Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (BMV: GFINBURO ) was down 2.07% or 1.01 points to 47.90.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 124 to 118 and 11 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.23% or 6.11 to $2,674.01 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.86% or 1.30 to hit $68.64 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.70% or 1.25 to trade at $72.37 a barrel.

USD/MXN was unchanged 0.02% to 20.30, while EUR/MXN fell 0.07% to 21.34.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 106.35.
