Brazil stocks higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 1.34%

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate , Public Utilities and Financials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.34%.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (BVMF: ELET3 ), which rose 4.02% or 1.41 points to trade at 36.46 at the close. Meanwhile, Multiplan SA (BVMF: MULT3 ) added 3.63% or 0.83 points to end at 23.70 and Iguatemi SA Unit (BVMF: IGTI11 ) was up 3.54% or 0.65 points to 19.03 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Cvc Brasil ON (BVMF: CVCB3 ), which fell 8.98% or 0.23 points to trade at 2.33 at the close. Hapvida Participacoes e Investimentos (BVMF: HAPV3 ) declined 1.15% or 0.03 points to end at 2.59 and Braskem SA (BVMF: BRKM5 ) was down 1.11% or 0.17 points to 15.21.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 571 to 426 and 50 ended unchanged.

Shares in Hapvida Participacoes e Investimentos (BVMF: HAPV3 ) fell to 52-week lows; losing 1.15% or 0.03 to 2.59.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.77% to 31.58.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.81% or 21.80 to $2,654.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.06% or 0.04 to hit $68.50 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 3.58% or 10.88 to trade at $314.58 .

USD/BRL was down 0.48% to 6.01, while EUR/BRL rose 0.26% to 6.37.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.55% at 105.71.
