Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking , Construction and Travel sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 0.77% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were J. & P. Avax (AT: AVAr ), which rose 8.53% or 0.13 points to trade at 1.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Iktinos Hellas (AT: IKTr ) added 7.76% or 0.03 points to end at 0.36 and Elvalhalcor Hellenic Copper and Aluminium Industry SA (AT: ELHA ) was up 6.25% or 0.12 points to 2.04 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Crete Plastics SA (AT: PLAKR ), which fell 2.78% or 0.40 points to trade at 14.00 at the close. Thessaloniki Port Authority SA (AT: OLTr ) declined 2.23% or 0.50 points to end at 21.90 and Optima bank SA (AT: OPTIMAr ) was down 1.39% or 0.18 points to 12.76.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 86 to 38 and 15 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.05% or 27.86 to $2,668.86 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.62% or 1.88 to hit $73.60 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.38% or 1.78 to trade at $76.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.66% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.46% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.58% at 108.92.
