Greece stocks higher at close of trade; Athens General Composite up 0.67%

Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking , Construction and Travel sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 0.67%.

The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Elvalhalcor Hellenic Copper and Aluminium Industry SA (AT: ELHA ), which rose 3.75% or 0.08 points to trade at 2.21 at the close. Meanwhile, Cars Motorcycles and Marine Engine Trade and Import Company SA (AT: MTDr ) added 3.40% or 0.10 points to end at 2.89 and Thessaloniki Port Authority SA (AT: OLTr ) was up 3.30% or 0.90 points to 28.20 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Alumil (AT: ALMr ), which fell 3.50% or 0.15 points to trade at 4.14 at the close. Autohellas (AT: AUTr ) declined 2.15% or 0.24 points to end at 10.90 and Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT: ELIr ) was down 1.32% or 0.03 points to 2.24.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 71 to 48 and 18 ended unchanged.

Shares in Thessaloniki Port Authority SA (AT: OLTr ) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.30% or 0.90 to 28.20.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.68% or 18.14 to $2,700.44 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.49% or 1.14 to hit $77.51 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.06% or 0.85 to trade at $80.77 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 1.03, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.34% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 108.83.
