Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Construction , Travel and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite added 0.41% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Metlen Energy & Metals AE (AT: MYTr ), which rose 2.79% or 0.92 points to trade at 33.92 at the close. Meanwhile, Piraeus Port (AT: OLPr ) added 1.94% or 0.55 points to end at 28.95 and National Bank of Greece SA (AT: NBGr ) was up 1.80% or 0.15 points to 8.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Elvalhalcor Hellenic Copper and Aluminium Industry SA (AT: ELHA ), which fell 3.45% or 0.08 points to trade at 2.10 at the close. Papoutsanis Industrial and Commercial of Consumer Goods SA (AT: PSALr ) declined 2.39% or 0.06 points to end at 2.45 and HELLENiQ ENERGY Holdings SA (AT: HEPr ) was down 2.34% or 0.18 points to 7.52.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 68 to 55 and 17 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.78% or 21.39 to $2,727.31 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.89% or 1.46 to hit $75.93 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.53% or 1.24 to trade at $79.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.15% to 1.04, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.03% at 108.08.
