Mexico stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC down 0.03%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 0.03%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV: PEOLES ), which rose 5.03% or 17.85 points to trade at 372.87 at the close. Meanwhile, Becle SA (BMV: CUERVO ) added 3.77% or 0.76 points to end at 20.91 and GCC SAB de CV (BMV: GCC ) was up 2.76% or 4.66 points to 173.64 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Qualitas Controladora, SAB De CV (BMV: Q ), which fell 3.15% or 5.65 points to trade at 173.60 at the close. Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: GCARSOA1 ) declined 3.15% or 4.11 points to end at 126.36 and Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: ALFAA ) was down 2.67% or 0.35 points to 12.75.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 143 to 92 and 8 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 2.45% or 77.90 to $3,255.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.38% or 1.43 to hit $61.50 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 2.15% or 1.36 to trade at $64.69 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.56% to 20.33, while EUR/MXN rose 0.88% to 23.09.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.04% at 99.56.
