Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 1.73%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 1.73%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were America Movil SAB de CV M (BMV: AMXB ), which rose 4.32% or 0.62 points to trade at 14.97 at the close. Meanwhile, Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV: PEOLES ) added 3.71% or 13.91 points to end at 389.07 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del Sureste (BMV: ASURB ) was up 2.91% or 16.16 points to 571.98 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV: VOLARA ), which fell 3.95% or 0.38 points to trade at 9.23 at the close. Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: ELEKTRA ) declined 1.51% or 5.24 points to end at 341.11 and Orbia Advance Corporation SAB de CV (BMV: ORBIA ) was down 1.44% or 0.21 points to 14.35.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 139 to 84 and 10 ended unchanged.

Shares in Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV: VOLARA ) fell to 3-years lows; falling 3.95% or 0.38 to 9.23.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.56% or 18.18 to $3,226.42 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.16% or 0.10 to hit $61.60 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.08 to trade at $64.84 a barrel.

USD/MXN was up 0.12% to 20.10, while EUR/MXN rose 0.22% to 22.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.45% at 99.44.
