Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms , REITs and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 1.18%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Lundin Gold Inc (TSX: LUG ), which rose 6.16% or 3.01 points to trade at 51.86 at the close. Meanwhile, First Majestic Silver Corp. (TSX: AG ) added 5.73% or 0.50 points to end at 9.23 and MAG Silver Corp (TSX: MAG ) was up 5.72% or 1.19 points to 22.01 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pason Systems Inc . (TSX: PSI ), which fell 2.77% or 0.31 points to trade at 10.90 at the close. TFI International Inc (TSX: TFII ) declined 2.53% or 2.86 points to end at 110.01 and Richelieu Hardware Ltd. (TSX: RCH ) was down 2.25% or 0.75 points to 32.64.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 723 to 206 and 77 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lundin Gold Inc (TSX: LUG ) rose to 5-year highs; up 6.16% or 3.01 to 51.86. Shares in Richelieu Hardware Ltd. (TSX: RCH ) fell to 3-years lows; falling 2.25% or 0.75 to 32.64.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 8.42% to 30.02.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.53% or 17.29 to $3,227.31 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.18% or 0.11 to hit $61.61 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.31% or 0.20 to trade at $64.96 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.03% to 0.63.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 99.48.
