Greece stocks lower at close of trade; Athens General Composite down 0.08%

Investing.com – Greece stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms , Household and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite declined 0.08%.

The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Ekter (AT: EKTr ), which rose 5.20% or 0.09 points to trade at 1.86 at the close. Meanwhile, Piraeus Port (AT: OLPr ) added 4.19% or 1.60 points to end at 39.80 and Thessaloniki Port Authority SA (AT: OLTr ) was up 3.45% or 1.00 points to 30.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Iktinos Hellas (AT: IKTr ), which fell 3.80% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.33 at the close. Kri-Kri Milk (AT: KRIr ) declined 2.68% or 0.40 points to end at 14.54 and Alpha Bank SA (AT: ACBr ) was down 2.13% or 0.05 points to 2.12.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 65 to 51 and 19 ended unchanged.

Shares in Piraeus Port (AT: OLPr ) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.19% or 1.60 to 39.80. Shares in Thessaloniki Port Authority SA (AT: OLTr ) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.45% or 1.00 to 30.00.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 2.62% or 84.81 to $3,325.21 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.28% or 1.40 to hit $62.73 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.96% or 1.27 to trade at $65.94 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.88% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP rose 0.66% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.73% at 99.23.
