Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Public Utilities , Basic Materials and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.72%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Brava Energia SA (BVMF: BRAV3 ), which rose 5.22% or 0.90 points to trade at 18.13 at the close. Meanwhile, Minerva SA/Brazil (BVMF: BEEF3 ) added 4.35% or 0.30 points to end at 7.20 and MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (BVMF: MRVE3 ) was up 3.02% or 0.15 points to 5.12 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Raia Drogasil SA (BVMF: RADL3 ), which fell 6.40% or 1.46 points to trade at 21.34 at the close. CSN Mineracao SA (BVMF: CMIN3 ) declined 3.87% or 0.23 points to end at 5.72 and Embraer SA (BVMF: EMBR3 ) was down 3.46% or 2.24 points to 62.41.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 525 to 371 and 74 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.91% to 28.63.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 3.51% or 113.80 to $3,354.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.23% or 1.37 to hit $62.70 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 2.30% or 8.50 to trade at $377.90 .
USD/BRL was down 0.35% to 5.87, while EUR/BRL rose 0.54% to 6.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.86% at 99.11.
