– Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Other Electronic and Machinery sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.17%.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hota Industrial Mfg. Co Ltd (TW: 1536 ), which rose 9.93% or 6.00 points to trade at 66.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Tri Ocean Textile Co Ltd (TW: 1472 ) added 9.92% or 6.00 points to end at 66.50 and Arima Communications Corp (TW: 8101 ) was up 9.90% or 1.50 points to 16.65 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Lead Data Inc (TW: 2443 ), which fell 9.85% or 0.39 points to trade at 3.57 at the close. Trk Corp (TW: 1432 ) declined 6.76% or 1.45 points to end at 20.00 and Jentech Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW: 3653 ) was down 6.33% or 95.00 points to 1,405.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.

Shares in Arima Communications Corp (TW: 8101 ) rose to 3-years highs; up 9.90% or 1.50 to 16.65.

Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.03% or 0.02 to $68.75 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $72.31 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.76% or 20.05 to trade at $2,666.35 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was up 0.19% to 32.56, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.18% to 0.22.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 106.85.
