Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology , Consumer Services and Industrials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.30% to hit a new 1-month high, while the S&P 500 index gained 0.61%, and the NASDAQ Composite index gained 1.28%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA ), which rose 4.43% or 6.24 points to trade at 147.07 at the close. Meanwhile, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT ) added 4.13% or 17.70 points to end at 446.20 and Travelers Companies (NYSE: TRV ) was up 3.16% or 7.56 points to 246.72 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Home Depot Inc (NYSE: HD ), which fell 1.99% or 8.33 points to trade at 410.10 at the close. Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ ) declined 1.94% or 2.88 points to end at 145.27 and Chevron Corp (NYSE: CVX ) was down 1.16% or 1.83 points to 156.41.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Netflix Inc (NASDAQ: NFLX ) which rose 9.69% to 953.99, Monolithic Power Systems Inc (NASDAQ: MPWR ) which was up 7.98% to settle at 689.42 and Moderna Inc (NASDAQ: MRNA ) which gained 7.27% to close at 38.50.

The worst performers were First Solar Inc (NASDAQ: FSLR ) which was down 6.33% to 171.90 in late trade, Edison International (NYSE: EIX ) which lost 6.33% to settle at 58.29 and Dominion Energy Inc (NYSE: D ) which was down 5.33% to 52.93 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Blackboxstocks Inc (NASDAQ: BLBX ) which rose 226.63% to 5.52, Asset Entities Inc (NASDAQ: ASST ) which was up 51.11% to settle at 1.36 and Jayud Global Logistics Ltd (NASDAQ: JYD ) which gained 42.51% to close at 3.52.

The worst performers were Star Fashion Culture Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ: STFS ) which was down 80.46% to 2.64 in late trade, Hepion Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ: HEPA ) which lost 58.05% to settle at 0.14 and Starbox Group Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ: STBX ) which was down 36.50% to 0.62 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1832 to 955 and 82 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1984 fell and 1302 advanced, while 143 ended unchanged.

Shares in Netflix Inc (NASDAQ: NFLX ) rose to all time highs; rising 9.69% or 84.31 to 953.99. Shares in Blackboxstocks Inc (NASDAQ: BLBX ) rose to 52-week highs; rising 226.63% or 3.83 to 5.52. Shares in Star Fashion Culture Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ: STFS ) fell to all time lows; down 80.46% or 10.87 to 2.64. Shares in Hepion Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ: HEPA ) fell to all time lows; losing 58.05% or 0.19 to 0.14. Shares in Jayud Global Logistics Ltd (NASDAQ: JYD ) rose to 52-week highs; rising 42.51% or 1.05 to 3.52. Shares in Starbox Group Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ: STBX ) fell to all time lows; losing 36.50% or 0.36 to 0.62.

The CBOE Volatility Index , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 0.27% to 15.10.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.22% or 6.05 to $2,765.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.61% or 0.46 to hit $75.37 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.40 to trade at $78.89 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.04, while USD/JPY rose 0.69% to 156.56.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 108.06.
