Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 1.06%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 1.06% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Gruma SAB de CV (BMV: GRUMAB ), which rose 3.26% or 10.64 points to trade at 337.14 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: BIMBOA ) added 2.94% or 1.56 points to end at 54.71 and Banco Del Bajio SA Institution De Banca Multiple (BMV: BBAJIOO ) was up 2.86% or 1.33 points to 47.78 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Becle SA (BMV: CUERVO ), which fell 2.34% or 0.45 points to trade at 18.79 at the close. Gentera SAB de CV (BMV: GENTERA ) declined 2.09% or 0.56 points to end at 26.24 and Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (BMV: FEMSAUBD ) was down 1.43% or 2.50 points to 172.86.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 125 to 111 and 20 ended unchanged.

Shares in Becle SA (BMV: CUERVO ) fell to all time lows; falling 2.34% or 0.45 to 18.79.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.23% or 6.35 to $2,765.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.58% or 0.44 to hit $75.39 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.48% or 0.38 to trade at $78.91 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.63% to 20.48, while EUR/MXN fell 0.81% to 21.32.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 108.05.
