Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals , Banking and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.93%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Croda International PLC (LON: CRDA ), which rose 8.19% or 223.00 points to trade at 2,947.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Antofagasta PLC (LON: ANTO ) added 7.03% or 110.00 points to end at 1,675.50 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON: STAN ) was up 6.36% or 65.00 points to 1,087.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON: RKT ), which fell 5.88% or 291.20 points to trade at 4,658.80 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON: FRES ) declined 5.20% or 54.00 points to end at 985.00 and Severn Trent PLC (LON: SVT ) was down 2.86% or 79.00 points to 2,682.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1258 to 541 and 569 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 3.51% or 120.14 to $3,299.26 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.76% or 1.76 to hit $61.91 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.51% or 1.69 to trade at $65.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.59% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.77% at 99.45.
